Update 9.5 is (finally) here! This update focuses mostly on various NPC AI improvements and bug fixes. While there's no new "visual" content, these changes provide the necessary stability to release Jobs smoothly next week.
Server fixes
- Made the check whether a stove and/or counter was accessible or unaccessible use pathfinding, making false positives (getting stuck when serving a food) less likely to happen.
- Fixed a bug, that when you had multiple thirsty NPCs but only one portion on the Frosty machine, all of them could consume that one portion, giving additional XP, cash and popularity.
- Fixed a bug where empty plates wouldn't resync properly or at all after rejoining a café.
- Fixed a bug, that when refilling the Frosty machine while having a visitor at your café wouldn't sync on the other player's screen.
- Made various database optimizations to the NPC AI, including quicker and consistent awarding of Cash by the Frosty Machine.
- Waiters will now resync a bit more reliably. They'll still teleport sometimes, but this lasts about 2-3 seconds and shouldn't affect any functionality at all.
Client fixes
- Fixed an issue where the Apple Pie's name was blank in English.
- Fixed an issue where, for unknowns reasons, the wall decoration from the Basic Black Collection was stripped out of the game's configuration files, causing it to be removed from existing cafés.
New features server-side
- Reworked the entire clean/serve priority bar for Staff:
- When the bar is set entirely to Cleaning, staff will now only clean dishes. They will no longer serve food as a fallback, even if no cleaning tasks are available.
- When the bar is set entirely to Serving, staff will now only serve food. They will no longer clean dishes as a fallback.
- If the bar is not at an extreme, the logic remains the same: staff prioritizes the assigned task but performs the other if the primary task is unavailable.
- This functionality correctly replicates how the AI would behave on the original game.
For this update, we focused on improving the NPC AI, improving client resyncs, and most importantly: making it more smart, reliable and useful to prepare for Jobs' launch on the following days/week.
We also made improvements related to timing issues, such as waiter teleports as seen on the GIF below:

In the next major update, we plan to finally add Jobs and all(or most) missing achievements. We will continue to release hotfixes for Update 9.5 if necessary while we develop Update 10, and will keep the community updated! So, stay tuned!
Thanks for playing Cappuccino! Stay fresh!
